Think bigger! Imagine a sextbot trained on your own texts and posts and phonecalls and pics and any other data it can harvest, that could impersonate you when you’re too tired from work to be intimate with your s/o - and then imagine them doing the same thing, and now two sextbots are chatting with each other with zero human input.

I’m not ready for the future.

There’s literally a black mirror episode (season 1) where this concept is explored. Circumstances are a bit different though

Guess what, Replika founder Eugenia Kuyda was literally inspired by the episode (Be Right Back).

That sounds like the premise for a whacky romantic comedy - someone has to go on a bunch of dates with strangers because their AI is a flirt, ranging across all ages and body types and genders.

Then in the end the main character realizes their sextbot was the one they were in love with the entire time!

Ray Bradbury’s Marionettes, Inc. seems like an appropriate story to mention at this point.

They’re not going to give you other users’ data or stats despite obsessively collecting them. (I get the sarcasm though)

Not saying this won’t have any negative effects on people, however I think it’s a little premature to guess at what it will be like. About 3/4 of the article is commenting what it will do to men when we find out only at the end women are the majority of users.

I used to, but now that we have sexbots why bother?
