Macklemore lost what seems to have been a pretty lucrative gig defending what’s right. At best, sheeran tucked tail and aligned with the genocide enablers so he can get his bag. Fuck him.

What happened was the venue owner presented a set of terms, and Ed Sheeran, worth around $300 - $400 million, decided those terms were acceptable. Which means that when offered a choice between “Make slightly less money” and “Defend genocide”, Ed decided he was OK with genocide.
And by the way, Macklemore was offered those same terms. There is zero chance they went straight to kicking him off the tour. First thing they did, guaranteed, was tell him that he could either get kicked or cut the Free Palestine stuff. And clearly he told them to get fucked, because he has actual fucking integrity, something that is apparently too much to expect from your precious little sad boy pop star.

He knows he can provide support to performers if he really wants to, regardless of what venue owners or concert organizers decide. He did it for a band made up of Ukrainian soldiers, but not for someone saying “Free Palestine”.
Shortly before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the band joined the Territorial Defense Forces, having previously served as volunteers since the Russian occupation of Crimea in 2014. In March 2022, the band made an appeal to perform remotely in the Concert for Ukraine, a benefit concert raising funds for those affected by the Russian invasion. Their appeal included a message to singer Ed Sheeran via TikTok. The band were refused a place at the concert due to their association with the military. In response, Sheeran collaborated with the band on a remix of his song “2step”, with profits from streams of the music video being donated to Music Saves UA, a fundraising project created to provide humanitarian aid in Ukraine.
