Yet another reason to avoid GitHub.

I switched to codeberg.org because Microsoft does this kind of stuff all the time.

I’m about to sign up for codeberg for the first time. Wish me luck.

Here’s an alternative repo on GitLab: https://gitlab.com/89luca89/distrobox/

I wish they maintained a third mirror on a self-hosted repo or a Gitea instance tho

I keep seeing so many (anticorporate and anticapitalist) projects that are only hosted on proprietary platforms like GitHub. It’d be so easy for them to lose their progress.

Apparently it’s been restored now. Still, fuck Github.

GitHub is a terrible cancer to all OS and FLOSS software. It should be obliterated.

Yep. We need to use mailing lists and patch files again.

Wait, GitHub uses patch files for PR requests…

The issue is that most of us put all of our eggs in the same basket. These important repos needs to be mirrored to as many instances as possible.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word “Linux” in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.
