crimeschneck@feddit.deto Music@lemmy.ml•What is an artist that is very popular in your country but widely unknown outside?3·2 years agoHelene Fischer, Schlager artist:

English translation:
The top ten list of the highest-earning female musicians also includes a German: Helene Fischer. She is not as famous as her American colleagues, wrote Forbes. But “the European superstar” earns more than most “divas” in the USA. Fischer has her “phenomenally successful” tour to thank for that. According to “Forbes” estimates, the singer has an annual income of 32 million dollars - and is thus ahead of Céline Dion and Britney Spears.

Edit: But the music is not really my cup of tea… :D . I think despite her success she’s fairly unknown in non-German speaking countries.
crimeschneck@feddit.deto Music@lemmy.ml•Do you know music like that, where there are no vocals, but lots of chaotic distortions that sound like music?English1·2 years agoMaybe you can find something here: https://rateyourmusic.com/charts/top/album/all-time/g:power-noise/d:instrumental/
Power noise is a subgenre of Post-Industrial music that combines looped Noise samples with various types of Electronic-derived rhythms. In particular, there are stylistic parallels to Electro-Industrial, Industrial Techno, Hardcore [EDM], Industrial Hardcore and Breakcore such that, unlike in regular noise compositions, the sounds themselves are not as pure a form of noise as the name suggests. Traditionally, power noise is instrumental and based upon heavily distorted drum machines, abrasive synthesizers and martial but danceable 4/4 beats. Occasionally, melodic components and abstract soundscapes are added secondarily to the rhythmic structure. https://rateyourmusic.com/genre/power-noise/
