I’d probably take this suggestion, just to see where its going with this. (I know there’s no design behind these suggestions, but it’s funny).

Saledovil@sh.itjust.worksto Steam@lemmy.ml•Helldivers 2 went from one of the most beloved Steam games to one of the most hated pretty quickly7·1 year agoThat’s because there’s a review count requirement for both the extremely good and the extremely negative level. So you can’t buy your own game, review it, and have it be overwhelmingly positive because the only review is positive. Thing is, bad games tend to not get bought by many people, so overwhelmingly negative is rare. So yes, mixed reviews are already damming.

I took another look at it just now, and while I can find the toggle in the settings, I can’t find the context menu where the probabilities are shown.

Said thing has an option to show the alternative tokens for each token it puts out, and what their probably for being chosen was. Seeing this shattered the illusion that these things are really intelligent for me. There’s at least one more thing we need to figure out before we can build an AI that is actually intelligent.
It’s cool what statistics can do, though.

Or at least, if you visit reddit, don’t click on any ads or contribute in a meaningful way. In addition, never directly link to reddit. In a way, all your actions that affect reddit in any way should be to the detriment of reddit. It’s like trying to cut down a sequoia with a sharp pebble, but even small livestock shits.
I suppose a non-compliant browser will need to be build if this comes to pass.
I do like that moderation log feature on at least one lemmy instance. It allows you to see what the mods are doing and helps avoid communities with bad moderators. Or at least it would if you could search by community.
This is hilarious. It’s been a while since I laughed like that. Thanks.
Saledovil@sh.itjust.workstoReddit@lemmy.ml•Reddit CEO calls unpaid moderators' concerns "noise" - time to send a message he won't forget.1·2 years agoIt’s actually not that absurd. For a social media site, users are content. Hence the relationship between third party apps and the site is inherently symbiotic. The app provides a better user experience, leading to more users for the site, hence more content.
Saledovil@sh.itjust.workstoReddit@lemmy.ml•Reddit CEO calls unpaid moderators' concerns "noise" - time to send a message he won't forget.0·2 years agoWell, as far as I’m concerned, unless they forgo charging for API access, I’m not visiting Reddit again, apart from checking the save3rdpartyAPps subreddit. Bit ironic that the protest had been organized on Reddit.
I think it is called the network effect. People are still using Twitter because the messages they want to see are being posted there, and those messages are being posted there because that’s where the audience is. So, basically, people are locked in.
This also means that any loss in user count has a double effect, as not only users are lost, but the utility of the service for the remaining users decreases. So, what I’m saying is, if Elon continues this way, at some point there will be a large exodus of users from Twitter, as each loss of users reduces the utility of Twitter further, triggering a chain reaction.
Of course, we can’t know when that happens, and since we’re both on Lemmy, we’ve already self-selected as people with little tolerance for enshittification.
