Probably schoolwork. I don’t have high computational needs, and these work better than modern Celerons.

ProgrammingSocks@pawb.socialto Linux@lemmy.ml•Is it me or Ubuntu secretly replaces DEB Firefox with Snap Firefox?1·3 months agoThis isn’t Debian’s fault! It’s purely an Ubuntu/Canonical problem. Debian’s only apt by default, no snap.

ProgrammingSocks@pawb.socialto Linux@lemmy.ml•Asahi Linux Lead Developer Hector Martin Steps Down As Upstream Apple Silicon Maintainer514·3 months agoRust is already as fast as C and memory safe. The reasons people don’t want it in the kernel basically amount to being a boomer that doesn’t like new things for immaterial reasons. Rust has already proven itself capable in mission-critical applications like drivers.

It’s proprietary, so you’re still putting everything into the hands of some random corporation. Software freedom is important, and important to this forum specifically.

And of course there’s Inkscape for vector. I would suggest learning on these tools and if you find yourself limited then you can start considering other options.

And even if weren’t, I cannot emphasize enough how much that list of companies should also NOT be in charge of setting open standards. Oligopoly, monopoly with the illusion of choice…
Sounds like someone doesn’t know the importance of furries in the free software community yet

Not really true if you just stick to modern GTK apps. Almost always if you find a program for a specific purpose using Qt (KDE graphical framework) someone’s make a program for the exact same function. Is it basically pointless other than keeping theming and style consistent? Yes, but that’s enough for me unless there truly is an essential function missing. Basically the only Qt application I use is Strawberry Music Player because it’s extremely featureful.
You’re sure it’s in pairing mode? On my XM4s pairing mode is achieved by holding down the power button for a few seconds. It’ll say “pairing” in the headphones and blink red and blue IIRC.
Linux isn’t a product sold by a company. If they’re still thinking that somebody else is responsible for how they experience their technology they will not have a good time with Linux. You have to be able to take responsibility for your machine, and in our society of learned helplessness, people would rather give up that responsibility for perceived convenience.
