

I think they get it, they just don’t think they’ll ever experience consequences. They can always move somewhere comparatively insulated from harm or don’t see a point in worrying about anything that happens outside of their own lifetimes or are techno optimists and assume we’ll crack fusion or invent efficient carbon scrubbers
Eradicating knotweed is a labor-intensive process. With herbicides, there’s the cut 'n paint method where you cut off the stems and carefully apply glyphosate to the stumps rather than spraying. The harms related to herbicide are mostly due to industrial-scale applications to soil with low organic matter content in agricultural systems, leading to massive amounts of runoff. I’d be less worried about a careful, small-scale application.
