    Like practically all herbivores, especially large ones, hippos are more than happy to eat meat whenever they can opportunistically do so, and are actually much more likely to do so than other large herbivores because of how effective they are at killing other animals. They’ve been known to kill and eat animals as large as wildebeest and zebras.

        Far more humans have died do mosquitos than in all wars combined. So I’d say they outranks us with ease.

          if the only criteria is human deaths, sure. mosquitoes on the other hand have never caused a mass extinction and they’ve definitely never caused the sheer level of cruelty and suffering we inflict daily on the animals we factory farm. there’s really no competition.

      People associate deadliness with the capability of violent behavior ending in gory results. Find a one ton mosquito, people will cry danger.
