More than 36,500 Iranians were killed by security forces during the January 8-9 crackdown on nationwide protests, making it the deadliest two-day protest massacre in history, according to documents reviewed by Iran International's Editorial Board.

    EDIT: I’m not just gonna potentially do the propaganda work of a nation state. So I’ll add my personal opinion here. It is very possible both these sources are influenced to pushing regime change, and not for the people, but their own self-interests. The numbers are extremely high, and many adjacent information don’t line up with this narrative. Please use your own critical thinking.
