Yeah I learned the hard way, I ran updates on my Debian desktop and didn’t realize the kernel failed to rebuild due to a driver not supporting the latest kernel version, well to my surprise the day after when I went to turn my desktop on and it failed to boot, I couldn’t navigate Grub to get into another kernel version or recovery.
That sucked.

People recommend what works for them, OP just got unlucky with some weirdly specific touch pad and driver troubles on a laptop, not unheard of but I suspect the manufacturer never released the drivers for Linux nor the source code so I bet Fedora / OpenSuse came up with their own solution that the other distros mentioned lacked.
People often forget dictionaries exist to quite literally define words and their meanings.
Would be nice to see a boot manager support Corsair keyboard drivers, bloody dumb Corsair keyboards require proprietary drivers to function.
Ah I’ve had mine for a week now, if you encounter this issue it can be really annoying because steam will claim the update is “mandatory” and either force you to quit steam or make you sit and watch the update fail to get out of it.

With Debian nearly everything is optional.
Debian for its stability, but you can easily break it with one wrong command.
Don’t break Debian. While Debian does an amazing job at documentation it can be overwhelming for newer folks.
Everything with a lock means it’s mounted and in use. sda1, sda2, sda3 and sda4 should be safe to format, however as others have mentioned, booting into a live environment is the best course of action as it lets you freely move or extend partitions.
I suggest finding a thumb drive and flashing Gparted onto it.
American based VPN providers are a no no.
You can benefit from both a commercial VPN provider as well as at-home hosted.
My Asus WRT router, which I flashed with Merlin firmware, has a feature called “VPN Director”, I can connect to 5 different VPN clients at a time and forward my devices connections individually through each one.
My Asus router also has the option to host a WireGuard Server which i then forward through one of the VPN clients with the VPN director.
Essentially creating a multi-hop network, the flow goes a little like such;
Device -> WireGuard Tunnel -> Home Network -> WireGuard Tunnel -> Commercial VPN Server
The commercial VPN is my endpoint therefore what the internet sees when I browse however I also benefit from my PiHole which handles my DNS queries an blocklists.
Now I don’t know for Fedora in particular but if you can install the XOrg/X11 packages and switch your SDDM theme so that it includes the X11/Wayland toggles perhaps you can get it working?

Are you using Wayland or X11 as your Window Manager (WM)? I refuse to switch to Wayland because of how sluggish it feels on my Debian desktop.
Typically you can switch between the 2 on the login screen, usually in the bottom left or right.
Still got a shelf full of 360 discs, I refuse to open them and hope that the cases they’re in protect them for life longer than mine.
