No not all socialism is democratic. Libertarian socialism is by definition non-violent. You cannot be libertarian while also advocating for violence against others.

I will admit, we are getting onto our second or third option at this point, but people calling for armed revolution do not truly understand the impact that would have on society in the short term, and also how insanely difficult to impossible that idea actually is in modern American society. Democratic socialist ideas are only just starting to gain support now because liberalism has proven to be so ineffectual for long and it is a potential electoral path to start course correcting.

There are plenty of marxist rooted ideologies that eschew violence, and opt for a more electoral or direct action/mutual aid type of approach to bringing about communism.

Bernie is technically not a Dem, he’s an independent, but he caucuses with the Dems. Mamdani and AOC and a few others in the actual party do consider themselves a DemSoc though, and more and more Democrats are aligning with that ideology. So yea, they do seem to be excluding a large and growing part of the party, which is honestly not surprising since they have been doing so for years, ever since Bernie was screwed over in 2016.

What is the ideology of Democrats exactly, such that democratic socialism is excluded? “Democrat” is not really a specific and clearly delineated set of beliefs, it’s a party, and one that likes to claim it’s “big tent”, to boot. Not very big tent to exclude a whole group that supports a lot of the same things.

I am not familiar with flat packs vs snaps, I will have to look into that. I’m not opposed to learning different file systems if need be, it’s all new to me anyway, but if one is easier than the other I would probably go with that.
