    I’ve often wished for a front-end that split the timeline between content types. You’d have a tab for each: micro blogging, long form content, pictures, and video. There is clearly value in separating these content types, but I don’t want to have to sign up on mastodon, writefreely, pixelfed, peertube, et cetera, individually.

      This would be great and the more user friendly things get the more average users join. Right now I figure this is all hardcore open source, decentralization types, maybe some privacy focused.

    A user-friendly and customizable local program that brings the essence of Lemmy to your personal device. With a simple installation process and a single click, users can set up their own instance without the need for a domain. This self-contained program delivers a uniquely tailored feed based on individual preferences, where upvotes, downvotes, and interactions directly shape the content that appears. The software would guarantee a personalized and engaging browsing experience, allowing users to curate their own instance and explore topics of interest within a private and controlled environment.

      @Veritas
      Without a domain, who is the author of the votes and comments?
      How does one reply back if there is no sender’s address?
      Do you mean zot-like decentralised identity?

    It should be both group centered and individual centered, i.e. you can subscribe (and post to) either communities or personal timelines (e.g. Kbin or Friendica).

    Nomadic identities would be pretty great too, in case your homeserver shuts down (like Hubzilla I think?).

    Also it should come with a modern and sensible user interface (which all of the mentioned software lacks imo – even with skins).

    @Veritas portable identities and private profiles is a big difference that I’d like. I’d rather it be more content driven then people’s posts driven.

    Sorry I don’t care about most of the posts on here. Would rather see highlights in communities, like the hot page on a subreddit. I’m not so much here for discussion unless it’s under replying an interesting post/subject.

    @Veritas Ohhh a wordpress like program you can easily install on any php web hosting provider for personal use, I don’t know why so many #fediverse software (#mastodon, #pleroma, #misskey, #lemmy) missed the mark and went with ruby elixir and the like, I bet those are the languages devs are familiar with
    I am confident many software could be refactored into php code (friendica and hubzilla already exist) and it could really help speed up growth and make some people feel in control of their data.

        @altair222 I mentioned wordpress because of its ease of use and installation, writefreely is written in go, you will need a VPS for that.
        I wish for a pleroma or mastodom server easily deployable on php LAMP stack.

      There already exists a WordPress plugin. There is software written PHP like pixelfed, friemdica, and kbin.

        @reiver @Veritas
        website hosting plans are the cheapest, and easiest to manage , many hosts include hostinger, dreamhost, digital ocean , 1&1, ovh … (even though their basic plans could limit a social media software’s functionalities)
        non techy people can easly host, maintain, and tweaks their wordpress or drupal websites.
        hosting on VPS and dedicated servers is reserved to the very few technicaly savy and trained people. + they are more expensive to run.

            @narF @reiver @Veritas I am aware of that, and it will be a great addition to the fediverse, but what I was talking about is more like a social media platform than long post blogger platform

    Shouldn’t there be a service, coded in C or some other low level language, that would serve as a hub for messages and statuses - a little bit like email - and leave the interface with the user for things like mastodon, lemmy?..

    Exactly like lemmygrad.ml but with a button anyone can press that sets off an airhorn. Obviously mutable. Pressing the airhorn with the boys just sounds nice

    @Veritas Something with a Friendica/Streams style backend and a Pleroma-like frontend would be awesome.

    A combination of stuff. Something like lemmy with private servers like matrix over tor or whatever session uses or some other multi node connection system

    Another idea would be to implement a robust end to end encryption for real privacy.
