The recent Lemmy post with the “Can ActivityPub save the internet?” link, says there are 4 comments. They can’t be viewed from Lemmy however. Copy/paste the URL in Mastodon and the comments become visible (they are all non-Lemmy commenters).

haha yes, theoretically it is all compatible! It uses the ActivityPub procotol. Not everything works 100% yet, but lemmy <-> lemmy server communication works well, and communication with mastodon will only get better with time :)

@humanetech Probably there is an instance sync issue. I noticed stuff like this going on to other posts. It is really cumbersome, but the option I found was to go to the profile of the user posting the comment, on the server they’re on, then copy the comment link, get back to my instance and paste the comment link afterwards in the search bar at the top (you’re basically forcing the sync between instances).

It is cumbersome indeed, but I do not do this too much, unless I want to reply to that content or up/downvote it (like/dislike - here on Friendica)

Something is buggy, maybe…? I saw one comment from a user on LemmyGrad in notifications. Clicking on the ‘link’ icon didn’t navigate to this post. So I went to landing page, then to this post. Now I see there are 3 comments here, but only 1 is shown with a reply, but this only says “1 more reply -->” and clicking it has no effect, nor has reloading the page. (btw, Firefox 111.01 on Ubuntu)

Your comment is unreachable, when I try to follow it. Now answering from my notifications screen.

I’m seeing several threads, including the one mentioned here, where comments are only visible when I’m not logged in. Tried on both Firefox and Vivaldi, so it doesn’t seem to be browser engine related.

The reason for the comment count being off has been found. In Settings you need to have ‘Undetermined’ in your language selection, or any comment where language wasn’t specified becomes invisible (incl. old comments before language was a property on posts).
